About Lake Illawarra
Lake Illawarra is a suburb of South Coast, New
South Wales and is about 82 kms south-southwest
of NSW's capital city of Sydney. In the 2011
Australian census the population of Lake Illawarra
was 3,087 when there were 1,596 Females and
1,491 Males living there. The median age for people
living in Lake Illawarra was 42.
Lake Illawarra, an open and trained intermediate
wave dominated barrier estuary or large coastal
lagoon, is located in the Illawarra region of New
South Wales. Located south of the city of
Wollongong, north of the city of Shellharbour, and
5 kilometres northeast of Dapto, Lake Illawarra
receives runoff from the Illawarra escarpment
through Macquarie Rivulet and Mullet Creek.
